AI Wood Texture Generator

Generate seamless wood textures with believable growth rings and directional grain. Each texture exports as a full PBR set, and because the grain runs along a fixed axis you can rotate the material in-engine without the rings looking wrong.

What makes a convincing wood texture

Wood detail 1

Growth rings warp along the board instead of running perfectly straight

Wood detail 2

Grain stretches along the length of the board, the way real timber does

Wood detail 3

Roughness rises in the softer early-wood bands

Prompting for wood

The generator maps your prompt onto a material recipe: base surface, dominant colour, finish and detail scale. Naming the surface precisely beats describing a mood.

  • ✓Start with the surface itself - "oak wood planks with visible grain".
  • ✓Add a colour word to set the base tone - red, blue, grey, oak, cream.
  • ✓Add a finish word to steer the surface - glossy, matte, weathered, cracked, fine, coarse.
  • ✓Add a pixel hint to control density - for example "512px coarse" for large architectural surfaces.

Wood texture generator FAQ

Can the wood textures be used for flooring?

Yes. The grain runs along a fixed axis, so a floor reads correctly. Generate at 2048px for large surfaces, and check the tiling preview at 4x4 to confirm the plank rhythm does not become obvious across a wide room.

How do I get a different wood species?

Change the colour word in the prompt. Oak, walnut, pine and other species are handled by describing the tone - 'dark walnut', 'pale birch', 'warm cherry' - and the material model adjusts the grain contrast and colour accordingly.

Do you support plank seams?

Yes - include 'planks' or 'plank' in the prompt and the material model adds board divisions with visible joints and end lines, which is what makes a wood floor read as boards rather than a continuous grain pattern.

Are the wood textures seamless?

Strictly. The grain runs continuously across the tile boundary, so a board pattern repeats without a visible break. The generator guarantees this mathematically rather than by patching.

Can I use generated wood textures commercially?

Yes, including in shipped games and client renders. Commercial license, no attribution.
